Scarlett Johansson (born November 22 1984 New York City New York, U.S.) American singer and actress whose dramatic variety earned her acclaim in a variety of genres ranging from period drama to action and thriller. Johansson is born to an architect and producer, was brought up within New York City. Hunter and her twin brother, and she were both the youngest out of four children. In her early years she started performing. At seven she was already auditioning for a number of commercials. After that, she was enrolled in the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute and then attended the Professional Children's School in Manhattan to further hone her craft. Her debut came as an actor in the film North (1994) aged nine. When she was eight years old, she starred alongside Ethan Hawke on Off-Broadway in Sophistry. Johansson was later seen on the screen in Just Cause (1995), her debut occurred through Manny & Lo a coming of age movie about two sisters running away. In The Horse Whisperer, Johansson as a teen victim of an horrific crash. The role she played in Ghost World brought her more notoriety as the infamous teenager Rebecca. Like many actresses who are new, she chose to develop her talent in theatre. She was involved in various USA productions while getting her stage debut in the company of Wildflower. She was a graduate of at the Stonestreet Studios Conservatory of the New York University Tisch School of the Arts.
